This home, built in the 1840s, has architectural elements of the Greek Revival style, including Baroque pediments, heavy cornices, and horizontal transoms above the entrance.
This style is quite popular in the United States, perhaps due to an identification with the ancient Greeks and democracy. A large number of buildings in the Rochester area have elements of this style, including the iconic columns, but none of the houses in this neighborhood have columns. |
